Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Academy
Contact Information Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Academy is a non-profit, non-diocesan, private school teaching the Catholic Faith and the foundation of a classical academic curriculum from grades K-12 (with a college prep curriculum in high school), administered and staffed by Catholic laymen and incorporated under the laws of Illinois. It is open to all Catholic students of any race, color, nationality or ethnic origin. We accept non-Catholics, provided they are open to converting to the Catholic faith and understand their children will be immersed in an orthodox, Catholic culture. The requirements of the non Catholic student are the same as those of the Catholic student. Parents are the primary educators of their children whose right and duty to give education cannot be replaced, delegated or usurped. The school is an extension of this Gospel witness in the home. It provides a spiritually, emotionally, socially and physically protective environment in which the student's confidence as a child of God and a member of Christ's Mystical Body is nourished, strengthened and guaranteed. Within a sacred, disciplined, loving atmosphere, students grow in wisdom, proclaiming God's glory in all their accomplishments. In answer to a secular, morally confusing and religiously hostile age, we are convinced that through the sanctity of our thoughts, words and deeds we will restore the sanity of God's loving and redemptive presence in the world. Acting as the Church militant here on earth, we will follow the example of all the angels and saints who triumphantly worship, through prayer and song, Our Father in Heaven. Admissions Policies and Procedures : Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Academy admits students of any race, color and national or ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color or national or ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, or in athletic or other school‑administered programs. It is open to all Catholic students, and to those open to converting to the Catholic faith. The basis of admission is character, behavior, academic readiness and parental involvement. Our Lady of the Sacred Heart is not equipped to provide for the needs of children with behavioral and emotional problems, or learning disabilities that require special programs. CATHOLIC FAMILIES As a school teaching the Roman Catholic faith, Our Lady of the Sacred Heart professes to support all the teachings of the Catholic Church as pronounced by the Magisterium. Catholic families seeking admission should support the Academy in this profession, and we expect that what is taught in the classroom is reinforced in the home. FAMILIES OF OTHER FAITHS Children of other faiths whose parents are in the process ‑of converting, or desire that their children should become Catholic, are accepted into the Academy; provided the parents support the policies contained herein. Parents of children of other faiths, as do Catholic parents, further agree that their children are not permitted to dispute the validity of Catholic teachings. However, this policy does not prohibit honest inquiry. Parents of other faiths are asked to sign a participation agreement. Any participation in secular activities that is expected of Catholic students is also expected of students converting from other faiths. These may include civic activities that support a moral position compatible with the beliefs professed by‑the Catholic Church. One example is prayer at the abortion mill every First Friday. Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Academy is proud to announce its recognition as a member of the National Association of Private Catholic and Independent Schools (NAPCIS) of which Archbishop Raymond L. Burke is the adviser. http://www.napcis.org Go to this link to see positions open at our school in Rockford, IL.Donations: We do rely on your generosity, and appreciate it greatly. For Registration, Donations, or further information write to: Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Academy 3218 11th Street, Rockford, IL 61109 (815)-399-3021 ☺General Fund ☺ Building Fund □$2,500 □$1,500 □$1,000 □$500 □$250 □$100 □$50 Other: $______ OLSHA Academy is a nonprofit 501 corporation.
